With a growing number of questions in the question pool, finding the right questions becomes more and more cumbersome. Tags help, but it would be even better if there is kind of a “folder” structure available for the questions. This would also help to keep questions for different lectures separated.
Furthermore, an optional more compact view of the questions in the “Question Pool” would be helpful.
As we only have MC questions, it does not help to have all questions starting with the type “MC - …” - from our point of view, it is not necessary to display the question type in the title, since we typically look for a specific question from the content point of view and not from the question type point of view.
Dear @HPEclic,
thank you very much for your feedback. As we don’t want to introduce a second data structure that works in a very similar way as tags to, we will probably not create independent folder structures independent for now.
However, an option that we will look into would be to create a new view where the user can view his tags as folders and then find the correct questions through a more intuitive UI. Going forward, we are also thinking about possibly implementing hierarchical tag structures, which would allow you, to create tags, which are only available as sub-structures of certain other tags (mapping to folders depending on the UI choice).
I hope this would also help you to organize your questions in an easier way, and we will be happy to keep you updated on the progress on this front.
Thanks and best,
Julius
Having a new type of view based on tags, which is similar to kind of a folder structure is for sure also an option and would help a lot.
The idea of hierarchical tags is great - that would also make the list of tags more clear, since with a large number of questions also the list of tags is growing.
Thank you for working on this issue. Best regards, J. Biela
Dear @HPEclic,
I would like to get back to you with a short update on the progress on this front. After looking into the possibilities and implementing first prototypes, we had to realize that it is not really possible to represent tags as a folder structure due to the different underlying logic (e.g. questions cannot be in two folders at the same time, but can have two tags).
Unfortunately, this means that the discussed alternative view will not be possible at this time. Hierarchical tag structures, which can help to organize tags, are however still planned, and we will keep you updated on the progress.
Best,
Julius
Thank you for the update.
Having an hierarchical tag structure would be for sure helpful. Also being able to sort tags with respect to date, name,… would be good.
Instead of folders, there maybe could be e.g. some color coding of the questions based on the top level tags?
Dear @HPEclic,
thank you for your understanding. Both the coloring and sorting are very helpful inputs, which we will take under consideration when implementing more functionalities on tags towards the upcoming release in autumn.
Thanks and best,
Julius
